“The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are.” ~Carl Jung
Hi! I’m Sara. I’m glad you’re here! I support adolescents and adults in their emotional wellness journey.
I understand how important it is to find a therapeutic home where you feel safe and seen. A place where you are treated with dignity and respect regardless of your circumstances. A place where you can show up authentically without a need to perform or pretend. A place where you are celebrated as you are and supported in all the ways you wish to grow. This is what you will find in my care.
My approach to therapy is relational, person-centered, and strengths-based. I offer a warm and genuine presence with honest insights and creative approaches to healing. I provide client-counselor collaborative care guided by the following truths. You are a trusted expert on your life and lived experiences. You are resilient. You have the capacity for healing, and you have the ability to author your own story. You are deserving and worthy. I realized you may not feel or believe any of these things right now. And, that's okay. My job is to walk with you, at your pace, offering tools, skills, and guidance to lessen your load and empower you to live life on your terms.
In session, I treat the whole person, not a set of symptoms or a diagnosis. I pull from science-backed modalities grounded in mindfulness, expressive arts, & somatic work. I partner these with cognitive & behavioral tools, including CBT, Brainspotting, parts work, & DBT-based skills. Together, we might work to calm an overwhelmed nervous system, process big feelings, fears, or trauma, find relief from anxiety & depression, or adjust to life transitions. We might explore self-worth & self-esteem, identity development, or learn how to navigate the world as a neurodiverse human. We might give attention to relationship challenges, or struggles at work, school, or home. Your goals are co-created and our plan evolves based on your needs.
I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA) in North Carolina. I hold a Master of Science in Counselor Education with a specialization in clinical mental health counseling from East Carolina University. I have additional training in Brainspotting, a gentle yet powerful tool for supporting the healing work around unresolved and/or difficult emotions and trauma.
Outside of sessions, I’m usually in mom-mode carpooling kids and cheering them on at their various activities. In my free time, I love being outdoors. I especially enjoy hiking with my family and tending to my many plants. I am an avid reader of paperback sci-fi and fantasy and always open to new suggestions! I love salsa dancing, strength training, star gazing, and volunteering in the community.
