I received my masters in art therapy from Florida State University. I am a provisionally licensed art therapist (ATR-P) working toward Board Certification. I am also licensed as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA). I have four years of clinical experience working with a wide range of individuals. I specialize in adolescents, teens, and young adults working through emotional and mood disorders and trauma, as well as improving self-esteem and identity development. I also have experience working with individuals with personality disorders, life transitions, family and interpersonal relationship issues, addictions, and stress management. Throughout my career, I have developed skills in mindfulness, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and the community resiliency model, as well as honing my skillset as an art therapist. I continue to develop my skillset as a therapist in evidence-based modalities to meet the individual needs of my clients.

It is one of my greatest pleasures to walk alongside people as they navigate life’s challenges. Welcome to the journey, I’m excited to meet you here. Deciding to seek support in facing and overcoming your struggles takes courage. It is my goal to create an open and safe space for you to explore your past, present, and future, and learn to take ownership of the life you wish to lead. I believe you are the expert of your own life and it is my wish to help you feel empowered as you explore your challenges and your strengths, and begin to invest in your healing. Often, people struggle to find the words to describe or understand their experiences, particularly painful or challenging ones. I utilize art therapy to help break down those barriers and provide a new method of communication – one which may be used to communicate both with others and yourself. It is my goal to help you understand your experience in a way that helps you to move through it and feel more connected to who you are.

Art therapy integrates active art-making with psychological theory to guide personal and relational treatment goals. As an art therapist I emphasize the process over the visual outcome, so you do not have to be an artist to engage in and benefit from art therapy. Art therapy uses integrative methods which engage the mind, body, and spirit, offering alternative avenues for expressive communication. I often work with symbols and metaphor, as well as hands-on experiences to facilitate learning and promote insight. This approach also fosters self-esteem, promotes self-awareness, cultivates emotional resilience, and helps to reduce and resolve conflicts and distress.

As an Art Therapist and a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate I utilize a blend of art therapy and talk therapy to explore and process what the client is experiencing. My approach is person-centered and individualized to each client’s needs. I am a recovery-oriented therapist, meaning I believe in every individual’s capacity for change and success in their healing journey. Often during the therapeutic process, I support clients in developing a toolbox of coping and grounding skills in order to equip them with methods of emotional regulation. This helps support them in soothing their nervous system and make space to feel safe leaning into their experiences and moving through uncomfortable emotions. I balance teaching skills to help relieve physical and surface-level symptoms with going beyond the surface to explore the origin of unhelpful thought patterns and learning how to shift them.

Each person is a mosaic of their experiences and it is my goal to help you identify the pieces and put them together in a way that makes your life feel like something beautiful.
